Lose Weight In Your Face & Neck



Overview

If you have a lot of excess fat in the facial and neck areas, it can make you look heavier than you actually are. A slim neckline and face can bring out your features better and give you a healthier look. Losing weight in these areas can be typically easier than losing weight in other parts of the body. Weight loss can especially affect the cheeks, even if you only drop a few pounds. Make sure you speak to your doctor before starting a new diet and exercise plan to lose weight in the face.

Step 1

Cut back on salt. A diet high in salt can cause fluid retention and make you carry weight in the face and neck. Look at food labels, and avoid items that contain a high amount of sodium. Processed meals, fast food entrees, canned vegetables, soups, pretzels and chips are all high in salt.

Step 2

Drink at least eight to ten glasses of water. Dehydration can cause swelling in the face and neck. Make sure you stay hydrated by consuming plenty of water. Avoid drinks that dehydrate the body, like caffeinated beverages and alcohol.

Step 3

Follow a low-calorie diet. As you drop weight, you’ll notice that your face and neck have a leaner look. Cut out foods high in saturated fat and sugar. Eat a diet made up of mostly veggies, fruits, low-fat whole grains, lean proteins and nonfat dairy items.

Step 4

Spend time participating in cardio exercises. Running, jogging, walking, swimming and cycling can help you burn more calories and lose weight. If you want to lose the weight quickly, aim to spend an hour daily performing these activities.

Step 5

Perform exercises that focus on getting rid of weight in the face and neck. Perform neck extensions to get rid of weight in the neck. To perform this exercise, place your head down as far as it will go into your chest. Then extend your neck as far back as possible. Hold for a couple of seconds, and then repeat ten to 15 more times. To work the facial muscles, make various expressions, like smiling and opening your mouth wide, and hold them for ten to 20 seconds.
