Best abdominal exercise to lose fat around lower stomach love handles

The Best Abdominal Exercise

Some common exercises often referred to as the best abdominal exercises like sits ups, crunches, leg raises, etc involve very little duration. A set of 10 sit ups will take less than a minute to complete, and this means these types of exercises won’t burn off many calories. It’s been proven many times that energy must be burned in order to lose permanent weight. Also, they all tend to be anaerobic in nature. When exercising the abdominal muscles, anaerobic exercise results in the use of carbohydrates for energy and not always stored fat.

It now appears that the most common and popular abdominal exercises may NOT actually be the best exercise for losing fat around the abdominal muscles. None of these can “spot reduce” fat from around the stomach area or the love handles. Lets face it, we all know of people who have tried doing tons of sit ups every night yet never look any different!

The main benefit from these abdominal exercises is the toning and firming of the stomach muscles which helps to tighten the posture, and this may help give the appearance of a slimmer midsection. The waist can sometimes appear smaller because the muscles are slightly stronger which helps to hold the stomach in a lot more firmly.

We all potentially have those famous washboard abs that we would love to show off, they just happen to be hidden under a layer of excess fat. Really what people should want from the best abdominal exercise is a reduction of fat around the stomach to allow those washboards to show through. Burning fat should be the main purpose of the best abdominal exercise and the most effective activities for burning fat directly are aerobically based exercises like swimming, rowing or brisk walking. These exercises not only help burn fat directly from fat cells but also burn many more calories than doing 200 sit ups. If you want washboard abdominals then work with the body by controlling energy balance and selecting a healthier diet along with the best stomach exercise!

How the heck does this guy drop below 4% body fat without drugs or supplements? Tom Venuto is a natural bodybuilder who regularly competes at 4% body fat. The fact is, there are probably very few people who truly understand fat loss better than Tom does, simply because he doesn’t just research it or write about it – he lives it! (and has the ripped abdominals to prove it!)

What Tom reveals in his best-seller e-book, Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle, is essential knowledge if you want to get really, really lean, and until you understand these principles, you can’t even hope to get lean enough to see your abs – which is what we all want right? Find out how it’s done by visiting Tom’s website at:

The only downside to this e-book is that it’s chock full of useful info so it may take you a few days to get started.

Combine both types of exercise for better abdominal definition

Reducing body fat will result in visible abs however, there is a difference between having a lean stomach like some marathon runners and developing those impressive, thick washboards that bodybuilders like to show off on stage. Bodybuilders combine the effects of both aerobic and anaerobic exercises to establish that thick, rock hard look around the midsection.

They achieve the thickness by performing abdominal exercises like sit ups and crunches except with a slight difference in how they train them. Abdominals are muscles just like all others and bodybuilders train them in the same way, by gradually building up the abdominal strength level at each workout. It does not take much time to stimulate the process and will encourage the abs to develop size. After some time the abs will protrude out showing the washboards even if the fat percentage is not ideally low. Thickening the abs can only be done if the intensity of any abdominal exercise becomes progressively greater at each workout. Tom Venuto explains this much more deeply in his new e-book, check it out here!
