B12 Shots: the Newest Energy Booster

Vitamin B12 shots for weight loss, healthy skin, reducing stress, energy boosters, and so much more.

B12 shots are becoming more and more popular these days with actors, politicians and people on the go opting for them over lattes and cappuccinos. I myself have started to get a weekly shot. Yesterday was the third week for me so far.

My doctor told me that they are great stress reducers, skin enhancers, energy boosters, as well as having many other beneficial health factors. They are quick and painless. I stress painless because I have an extremely strong aversion to pain and needles and was completely surprised at how I hardly felt a thing.

Though I never thought I would spend $25 a pop on a single vitamin supplement, I have always believed that my health is worth every expense in the world.

After the first shot, I found myself a couple of days later feeling overly smiley. Sounds silly, huh? Well, that’s exactly how I felt. I noticed it most one afternoon when I was chatting with my girl friend. She was talking and I was enjoying our conversation as usual, but as she was speaking I found myself grinning more than I think the conversation warranted. It felt silly, it felt a bit goofy and it felt good. For some reason I felt almost on the verge of giggling at anything she said. I don’t recall feeling like that in any previous conversation I had had with her before.

Was it just a fluke? I brushed it off and didn’t think much of it until the next day. When we were talking again and the same feeling came over me. And then the light bulb went off in my mind! It must be the B12 shot!

Because of that experience and my doctor’s words about how great these shots are for one’s overall health I have decided to make them a new part of my health regimen. Some people get them once a month while others get them as often as twice a week. I myself have opted for once a week dosage. Some people say these shots are the new “caffeine fix”, some believe it’s a placebo effect.

Having experienced it myself, I believe it’s possible it may be a little bit of both. When I first felt the effect two days later I had forgotten that I had gotten the shot. It was clearly not in the forefront of my mind. So that to me makes me think it’s the shot and not the placebo effect. But now two weeks later and two shots later, I am not certain if I still feel the effects. I tend to stay up late and vary on feeling tired throughout my days as a norm, but either way, its B12 and its good stuff.

Wondering where you can get your B12 shots? If you live in the Los Angeles area, check out Cosmetique Med Spa, where, my doctor, Dr. Sarshad practices. He is a wonderful man who makes his patients feel special and genuinely taken care of. As mentioned earlier, individually these shots are $25, and they offer a great special deal as well: purchase 5 shots for $100 and save $25! Improve your health and save money at the same time; it can’t get any better than that!

This is in response to the comments from:Lisa 9/14/09 – drelayaraja 11/19/09 (for some reason I’m no longer able to leave comments in response, however, going forward I will leave them in the article until I can figure out how to fix this problem)

Dear Lisa, your comment is filled with great questions. While I’m not a doctor, I did conduct some research and found this information:

Dear sherri, thank you so kindly for your comment. While I am not a doctor, I did some research and found the following information:

“The typical dose is 1000 mcg (thousand micrograms), only aproximately 100 mcg of that is absorbed per shot.”

(source: http://dailystrength.org/c/Chronic_Fatigue_Syndrome/forum/1993236-b12-shots)

For your second question, it looks like it’s good to give a shot in your thigh or your bottom (please see the note below – again, please realize that I’m not a doctor)

“Bare your thigh (or your bottom) and make sure your skin is clean. Use rubbing alcohol if you like to use something to clean the skin; if you do, let it air-dry before proceeding.”

(source: http://opabinia.livejournal.com/1077.html)

For your third question:

“Well, I’m having my ArmourArmour thyroid Thyroid increased to 60mg per day now. So far I actually feel awesome compared to how I used to feel! I’m still taking the B6/B12/Lipotropics injection twiceTwice-a-day a week, so I’m doing pretty good on not being hungry.

It’s amazing what good health can feel like! This is great!”

It’s also important to keep in mind: I have been told that the effects of B12 shots are completely dependent upon the individual person. My doctor informed me that there is not really a given timeline that someone will feel the effects. He said that sometimes it can be a gradual process where you just feel better in small increments while other people feel the effects in a more sudden manner.

For your forth question:

I have been told by my doctor that some people take the shot daily, once a week, 2 x’s a month or 1 time a month – – in other words, it varies depending on the person and his/her unique physical needs. I’m pretty conservative when it comes to trying new things and I started with taking it once a week.

Hopefully this is helpful to you!

Dear shadie, this is something completely new to me! I didn’t realize that B12 shots were being administered to help those with autism – this is an incredible discovery that I’m certain will help countless others, thank you so very much for sharing!

Dear winnie, if you try it, please feel free to comment again and share your experience, thank you so much for leaving a comment

Dear user, I sincerely appreciate your comment. I didn’t realize B12 shots were administered for digestive problems as well. This is great news! And, I’m so glad to hear it’s helping you!

Dear user, thank you so kindly for sharing your experience with everyone.

Dear tasha, another commenter mentioned that you can order B12 shots online at http://www.mydietsolutions.com anywhere in the world. I hope this is helpful to you!

Dear Donna, I’m so glad that b12 injections are helping you – thank you for sharing!

Dear David, whether it’s the placebo affect or not, if you’re feeling better that’s all that truly matters, I’m certain your experience will truly help others make a wiser decision.

Dear Methyl B12 is the best!, Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information. I’m certain there are many others who did not realize that B12 can help autistic children.

Dear drelayaraja, thank you so kindly for your comment

(I was able to leave comments for a short while & now for some reason I can’t again so this is in response to the last 2 comments)

Dear Debra,

Thank you so kindly for your comment. While I’m not a doctor, I did find this link:

The third question is from a person who has a thyroid problem and takes synthroids. It mentions that people with thyroid problems typically have low levels of B12 – – which would make taking B12 shots a logical choice – – however, again, I’m not a doctor, it just sounds like a logical choice, but I would always consult your doctor to be certain. As for side effects, I would talk to a doctor.

Dear Clara,

Thank you so much for your comment. I found the following link where you can order methylcobalamin online:

I truly hope this is helpful to you.

Blessings & best wishes to all.

Every so often, for some reason I’m unable to post comments on this article – – so my sincere apologies for the delay in responding to Blake & Erica – – I’ve tried to post the comment about 10 times, so I’ll share it here until they’re able to fix the technical glitch again.

Dear Blake, thank you with all my heart for sharing the information about revitapops – that’s something I’d like to look into myself, but I’m certain there are countless others that will be interested in it as well. I’ve never tried them myself, but here’s a link to a review about them:

“Conclusion:

RevitaPOP is a great way to easily administer vitamin B12 and it’s so yummy no one will feel even know they are taking their “medicine”.” (source: http://www.purenaturaldiva.com/2010/03/dreview-giveaway-revitapop-vitamin-b12-lollipop/)

I hope this is helpful to you!

Dear Erica,

According to my doctor you can get the B12 shots as frequently as 1 time a week (sometimes more) to as little as you want. In my humble opinion (not being a doctor) if you’re worried about trying something new, I always believe in the “err on the side of better safe than sorry” and to start with getting maybe once a month. I like metaphors and it’s a good idea to think about it this way: when you haven’t exercised in awhile and then suddenly you start again there will typically be an adjustment period where sometimes you’ll feel the ache of sore muscles, maybe a little fatigue, but then as your body builds stronger muscles so too will you begin to feel the difference. If you’re feeling very tired, much like a person who’s very overweight, just give your body the time to adjust. Again, I’m not a doctor, but from my own experience and the overwhelming positive experience of other people, I believe B12 shots are wonderful.

And, because it is difficult to see your doctor, you can order them online, here’s a site I found: http://b12shotsonline.com/

I’ve never ordered from them before, so I can’t speak to how it will be, but this is a quote from their web page:

“Our founders are all medical professionals and believe that people deserve the ability to take control of their own healthcare. Our company is dedicated to providing avenues that empower people to manage their own healthcare. Being proactive about your lifestyle will enable you to change your medical future. We offer products, education, direct access and affordability to our customers.”

I’m also glad that you’re eating better — and again if you’re truly concerned, your health is worth all the world and getting in to see your doctor is immeasurably important. In the end, it’s important to trust your instincts and your heart. You will feel better with or without a doctor.

Wishing you all my very best.

Blessings.

Sincerely,

-Liane Schmidt.

For some reason, I’m unable to comment on this article again, so I’m leaving the reply to the last 2 comments here:

Dear LaQuitta, thank you with all my heart for sharing your story with everyone… this another new thing that I didn’t know about – that B12 shots can help people with thinning, hair… that’s amazing!

Dear Karen, this is concerning. While I’m not a doctor, I researched and found the following articles:

http://www.healthcentral.com/encyclopedia/408/431.html

http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/palpitations/causes.htm

In my humble opinion, I believe that there’s a logical reason for everything. If you weren’t experiencing the heart palpitations before taking B12 shots, it could definitely be the cause… after all, if you’ve never taken shots before, and now suddenly you’re taking them every single day, and you don’t know very much about them………. this can logically cause you to feel nervous and stressed out each time you go…

Again, I’m not a doctor, but I trust my instincts. If I was you, I would try to find another doctor to get a second opinion. Maybe find a doctor who doesn’t have such an agressive approach to B12 shots… I would feel nervous myself taking B12 shots every single day. I think it might be a good idea to find a doctor you feel very comfortable with… one where you take the shot maybe only 1 time a week or even 1 time a month.

Blessings & best wishes to all.

Sincerely,

-Joie Schmidt.

(p.s. For personal reasons, I’m legally changing my name to Joie.)
